You're not playing on your old 2002 account on osrs. Maybe you did something wrong when linking accounts? No. When I linked my steam account, I didn't have to restart as I could remember my old log in details so I already had all my stuff from the many years ago that I played it. All original runescape accounts got put into RS3, and Jagex forced players to restart their accounts from scratch if they wanted to play OSRS. you don't have to try to download a bot to get a modified client, it probably contained a keylogger or something and therefore was a modified client. You'll need to progress through Tutorial Island before the 'Link Email' button will appear.
